Warning for Strong Winds and Rough Sea

   For the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota.

PLEASE BE AWARE

Active southwest monsoon conditions are expected to be continue further. Hence strong winds gusting up to (60-70) kmph and very rough seas can be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanturai to Puttalam via Mannar and these sea areas will be rough at times.

There is a possibility to increase swell waves (about 3.0 – 3.5 m) in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Therefore, it is advised not to venture into fishing and naval activities in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota until further notice.
